Innisfree Shadow Pencil and Gel Liner Dot (2014 Version) | Review (Pic-heavy!)

Get charming, glittery eyes with Innisfree Shadow Pencil and Gel Liner. Last year, Innisfree introduced both of these products as a collaboration with Jill Stuart (with the stripe design). This summer, they released a renewed version with improved formula and shades of the same products. Instead of stripes, they changed the design into dots. I've been having my eyes on these for quite a while, and after reading Chrissie Tee's review on it, I was sold.

Unfortunately though, one of them (the dark brown gel liner) broke after I received it because of an accident and it's 100% not usable. (/_;). But here goes my review!

Innisfree Shadow Pencil

I got 4 of the Shadow Pencil in #4 Blossom (Dual Type), #5 Milk Tea, #6 Star Beige, and #7 Dazzling Brown City. The picture above is not in order of the colors.

The shadow pencil can be rotated from the bottom, you're actually getting a pretty good amount of product in one tube. Worth the price, I would say.

Innisfree Gel Liner

The gel liners I got are in #3 Ice Persimmon and #9 Dark Brown (I'm not sure what is the translation is actually).

First of all, unlike the shadow pencil, this thing can't be rotate from the bottom!! :( So, whatever you get in the beginning is what will be there till the end. Also, the #9 broke cause when I accidentally pulled the cap in an angle and sliced off the tip of the liner (cause it was too soft). After using the pink one several times, the tip (of course) gets less precise and blunt. But, there's no way to get it back to its original shape because the liner can't be sharpened ! Can't say I'm very happy with this.

Swatches

Here's the official swatches advertised by Innisfree:

Both products are a tiny bit too glittery for me, so I have to smudge them after application. The colors are well-pigmented enough to show through the skin, creating a really nice, subtle effect. I usually only use one layer cause it's already good enough for the color to show. Adding more layers made my eyes too glittery and eye-popping.

Shadow Pencils

1. #6 Star Beige - A warm, gold-ish orange color
2. #4 Blossom (Dual Type) - A combination of cool, cherry blossom pink and cool ice white color. When applied under the eyes, the white part makes a nice aegyo-sal or namidabukuro effect *^^*
3. #5 Milk Tea - My personal favorite *^^*. A cool beige color. A very versatile color and nice to mix with browns.
4. #7 Dazzling Brown City - The color isn't as dark as it looks on the packaging. A warm bronze brown color. I usually use this at the end of my eyes to give them depth!

Gel Liner

4. #3 Ice Persimmon - This is another one of my favorite. It's a warm, peach color with gold glitter effects!
5. #9 Dark Brown - I loved the dark brown color on this one, and would've make this a regular on my daily makeup routine. But didn't even get the chance to use it once cause I broke it after opening the cap for the first time ;__;

Texture and Application

Since these pencils are very soft, they glide really well on the skin, so application was very easy. They last for an average amount of time on my lids (maybe 3-4 hours before re-applying). Unfortunately, the tips are actually too soft and break very easily (like what happened to mine)! So, it's better to be careful when opening the cap so that it doesn't hit the tip. Also, the pencils won't go back to its original, sharp shapes after several use. This is pretty disappointing. I wish the pencils would hold themselves together better.

Another disappointment is that, the gel shadow tend to accumulate and leave a mark on my eye crease!

I find all the pencils easy to use, except the Shadow Pencil #4 Blossom, which is the dual type. Since the tip are divided into 2 colors, I find it hard to apply the pink color. I don't know what exactly happened to mine, but after only several use the white section is dominating most of the tip, leaving only a small area of the pink! :(

PROS:
+ Cute colors
+ Glides well on the eye lid
+ Easy to use
+ Shadow pencil can be rotated from bottom. Good amount for the $$ I paid.

CONS:
+ Too soft, breaks too easily
+ A bit too glittery
+ Cannot retain original shape
+ Gel liner can't be rotated from bottom. Too less of a product for the $$ I paid.
Where To Buy?
Originally, it costs 7,500 KRW for the shadow penciland 6,500 KRW for the gel liner.
Shadow Pencil --> love-youl's Ebay for $ 8.50
Gel Liner --> rubyruby76's Ebay for $ 7.34

Will I Buy It Again?
Maybe for the shadow pencil (but so far, I'm not interested in the other colors). No for gel liner.

I reaaaally wish I can give this product more points 'cause I love how subtle the colors are. But I get too anxious every time I have to open the cap (they're so soft, I'm worried I'll break them)

What do you guys think of the 2014 Innisfree Shadow Pencils and Gel Liners? Would you get any of them?
