Review | Lovedrops Tearbaby Liquid Eyeliner in Brown

Hey, Loves!
This time I want to introduce to you Lovedrops Tearbaby Liquid Eyeliner in Brown that I bought just recently. I was looking for a brown eyeliner cause my old one unfortunately dried out *tears* and I stumbled upon this at the local Japanese supermarket. So far, it's been doing a fairly decent job.

Lovedrops is a brand of mascaras and eyeliners from Ishizawa Lab Japan. The brand's motto is, in Japanese, "泣いてもにじまないマスカラ・アイライナー", which kind of translates to something like "tear-proof mascara and eyeliner". So basically, it's kind of saying that even if you cry, Lovedrops eyeliner and mascara won't run all over the eyes and stay pretty. The brand's product points are (as it says on their official website) :
  • Tear-proof
  • Easily removed with lukewarm water
  • Good quality brush enables anyone to draw impressive eye lines easily

Let's move on to the review ♥

The packaging is decorated with cute, organic pattern. The design is very sweet and girly. With pink and brown color combination, it reminds me of chocolate and makes me wanna eat it. :P

When you open up the packaging, there's an intro story for the eyeliner on the left and 3 styles of drawing the eyes.

Application

When I bought this, I was looking for something like my previous MSH Love Liner Liquid Eyeliner that I got in Japan. The brown color on this is darker than I expected, but still looks natural when applied.

The design of the pen is very simple, no patterns or anything. During application, the color glides immediately and stayed on my eyes, so I didn't have to re-draw the lines to create a full line. The felt tip is definitely wider than my 0.1mm Avance Jolie et Jolie et Liquid Eyeliner. It feels like the tip of a fat marker pen instead of a slim brush pen (like Avance's). I can't really make a very precise like with this one. Wish they made the tip slimmer!

However, what I really love about this eyeliner is, as said on the packaging, it literally smells like rose!! Makes my eyes smell nice after application (´・ω・`).

3 Ways Drawing Style

As a bonus, I also tried the 3 styles suggested by Lovedrops here :) Pardon my amateur-ish drawing style.
  • Sweet Tare Eyes - This is basically a sweet, girly, panda eyes style.
  • Pacchiri Big Eyes - This style makes the eyes glow and appear larger.
  • Natural Eyes - The most basic style and creates a natural effect.

Smudge Test

It was so hard to get this eyeliner to smudge. I had to rub my skin really hard for a few seconds to make it smudge like this. As long as the liner is dry, it is very durable and has a strong staying power.

Waterproof Test

The color turns a bit more saturated. If you look closer on the photo, the eyeliner starts to build up into small particles. Fortunately, the line still stayed nicely and didn't go runny!

Removal Test

It was very, very easy to remove the eye liner with water, which means less irritation for the sensitive areas around the eyes during removal. This also means that it's a bad idea to rub the eyes when the eyeliner gets wet. Oil makeup remover works really well too.

PROS:
+ Smells like rose
+ Natural brown color
+ Highly smudge-proof
+ Easy to use

CONS:
+ The tip is too wide. Hard to draw precise line
+ When it gets wet (by water or sweat), it'll get erased.
Where To Buy?
I bought mine at the local Mitsuwa supermarket for around $17. It's available at Ichibankao for ¥ 2050 (around $20).

Will I Buy It Again?
Maybe. But I still like my previous MSH Love Liner Liquid Eyeliner better.

Final Say
I would have given more hearts if the tip is slimmer. It didn't "wow" me as much as my Avance's Jolie et Jolie et.

See you guys on the next post :)
